Cookie's tavern birthday celebration
If you know anything about the Marine Corps you know that we hold out traditions in high regard. None more than the celebration of the Marine Corps Birthday on Nov. 10th. This year many of our detachment members went down to Cookie's Tavern in Philadelphia, the birthplace of the Marine Corps, to celebrate. The tradition of Cookie's birthday celebration has been going on for decades and was started by a few Marines in a bar, same as how the corps itself started. Today hundreds of Marines come together and have a huge celebration including a cake cutting and the reading of the birthday messages. It is a great event to attend as it brings together so many marines and their families together and give us a place to celebrate together.
